• These upgrades are free to all PG3A owners.  PGApp software may also be downloaded and installed for offline demonstration. 
  
• These upgrades add many features, improvements, and fixes, most notably the ability to merge modules (to form a larger, logical pattern generator with up to 256 data channels) and support for new probe types.
• The installation file is large (20MB).  If you would instead prefer a CD, please contact us.
• To run PGApp version 2.0.015, your PG3A must have firmware version 1.3 or later installed.
  

• To determine whether you need to upgrade your PG3A firmware, check your current firmware version by connecting to the PG3A module (via the "File->Choose PG..." menu option) and then selecting "System->System Properties" to view the current module properties.   If your firmware is less than V1.5, you should upgrade.
• Download and unpack the zipped firmware installer (PGFWUpdate1_5.exe) and firmware file (guts1_5.iqa) from the link below.
• Note: you MUST use this installer to update to V1.5 firmware.  The previous installer (PGFWUpdate.exe) should not work and may be deleted.
  
• Exit any running versions of PGApp and make sure your PG3A module is power-on and USB connected. 
  
• Run PGFWUpdate1_5.exe, select the serial number of your PG3A, and click OK.
• Browse or type in the path for the guts1_5.iqa firmware file and click Program.  You do NOT need to enter a password!
• Programming status will update and should complete in about 5 minutes.
• IMPORTANT: We strongly recommend that the computer being used to reload the PG firmware not be used for any other task during the firmware load process.  If the firmware load process is interrupted, it is possible that the PG may have to be returned to the factory for firmware reload.
• Once programming is complete, you must power cycle your PG3A module before the new firmware is used.

• Uninstall the current version of PG software (Start->Settings->Control Panel... Add or Remove Programs option).
  
• Download and run the PGApp V2.0.015 installer (Setup015.exe).
  
• Follow the installation instructions.  The installation directory by default is "c:\Program Files\TMPC\PGApp". 
  
• Reboot your machine.

USB driver notes (especially for Vista users):

• The PGApp installation copies two USB driver files to the Windows\System32\drivers directory: (CyUSB.sys and CyUSBVista.sys).
• CyUSB.sys is initially installed as the active USB driver and works for XP and Win2K machines.
• CyUSBVista.sys is necessary for Vista installations but is backward compatible with XP and Win2K.
• However, while the CyUSBVista.sys driver features higher pattern download performance (10-20%), it is at the expense of a much slower application startup time (+5 seconds per connected module).
• Thus, we recommend that only users of Vista or users who use very large PG patterns select the Vista USB driver.
• To use the Vista driver, do the following:<>

1. Go to the Windows\System32\drivers directory.
2. Rename CyUSB.sys to CyUSB_XP.sys.
3. Rename CyUSBVista.sys to CyUSB.sys.
4. Reboot the machine.
